'Layers' is an exhibition of new work by Dave Oldridge showing aspects of two very different cities, Bradford and Venice.

The Bradford photographs depict the contents of shops combined with the reflections of the street caught in the glass. The two elements merge to create images which give a surreal and upbeat view of the city.

The second strand of the exhibition shows layers of Venetian Graffiti. Here individual graffiti "artists" have each added their own words or images on top of existing deposits of paint or paper, thus making the resultant work more than was originally intended by any of the individuals who worked on them.

All the images are straight photographs, but the layers themselves give an insight into the cultural make-up of the two cities. Anyone passing the spot where the photographs were taken could see the same picture, if they cared to look below the surface.
