Synergy
New Work from the 'Community Art Room'

Saturday 6 October to
Saturday 29th October 2007

'Synergy' was chosen as the name for this show because the word expresses the diversity of people who use C.A.R.

Originally founded by Jo Cook & Ruth Fettis, C.A.R is based in their local area at 'Community Works', Undercliffe.

C.A.R's aim is to open access to art for local people and over the last 3 years has secured funding for a number of projects.

These include three exhibitions, evening classes for adults, daytime classes for women, holiday projects for children, drama projects and after school sessions for children and young adults and a group trip Tate Liverpool and Crosby Beach.

Many of the artists who have come to classes now feel confident to access the room and work independently.

Images in 'Synergy' include work carried out independently and work produced with the support of artist tutors.

Thornton Art Trail 2007
A Cleaner Greener Thornton

Saturday 8 September to
Saturday 29th September 2007

Over the summer people have submitted pieces of art inspired by the idea of a Cleaner Greener Thornton. The pieces have come from adults and children and show a huge range of ideas related to the theme. Many pieces use recycled materials or speak out on a issue of concern about Thornton.

The Trail continues through Thornton village.

Thornton Art Trail 2006 - Ovenden Moor Wind Farm Art Exhibition

Sunday 1st October- to Saturday 25th October

Thornton is hosting an exciting art exhibition this year.

The theme of the art is the Ovenden Moor Wind Farm - one of England's oldest wind farms, and a well known local landmark above Ogden Water.

Artwork created by people living or working near the wind farm has been entered into a competition, and is displayed in shop windows in Thornton village and in the South Square Centre (Community gallery, Unit 9 and the cafe).

The artwork includes entries from adults, children and groups and ranges from photographs and paintings to models and video.
